Is your comfort zone really comfortable? By definition, comfort is defined as content and undisturbed; at ease. And content is defined as satisfied with what one is or has; not wanting more or anything else. If that is true, by definition your comfort zone would be a place of total and absolute fulfillment, a place where you do more than dream. It would be a place where you actually live your dreams. So, is it? If you’ve been talking about living your dreams but then follow up with all the reasons why you can’t start that business or write that book then you are suffocating your dreams.
What’s comfortable about breathing but suffocating your dreams?
What’s comfortable about living in fear and not pursuing the desires of your heart?
What’s comfortable about settling for less than you deserve?
What’s comfortable about waiting for someone to give you permission to shine when you were born shining?
Some people will begin the journey of living their dreams but stop because it requires them to get uncomfortable and stretch beyond their boundaries. Don’t let that be your story. Decide that you want to bring your dreams to life and be persistent in your pursuit. It won’t always be easy but nothing compares to living the life you’ve always dreamed of.
When you find yourself hanging out in your comfort zone making excuses why you can’t live your dreams, stop and ask yourself what you’re afraid of. There was a time when fear controlled my life, often times without me even knowing it. I would analyze opportunities until I uncovered a “good” enough reason not to move forward decision because I was afraid of failing and there were times when I was afraid of succeeding. Then I realized that by stepping out on the ledge, looking ahead to living my wildest dreams, spreading my wings and trusting that I could make it to the other side I was creating an opportunity for others to do the same. And you can too! Are you ready to join me on the ledge?
