It’s that time of year where most businesses, large and small are creating their annual plans for the next year. These plans become the blueprint for achieving the company’s goals. It’s similar to the game plans that sports teams create for winning and defeating their opponents.
I believe Jim Fannin said it best, “the champion wins first, then walks into the arena. Everybody else walks into the arena and then tries to figure out what to do.”
Are you a business champion or are you like everybody else?
Your plan of action should define the exact strategies and action steps but the implementation and consistent execution will grow your business and boost your profits.
Some business owners get so caught up in the planning process that they fall short in execution. But when you take action, consistently, you gain confidence, attract clients and increase your cash flow. The results will determine where and if adjustments need to be made.
What should be included in your plan?
The plan should include your goal, the strategy, the action steps and the resources (team and systems) necessary to grow your business.
What’s going to stop you from working the plan?
Fear. It’s not money, time or one of those other sexy excuses, it’s fear – the fear of success, the fear of failure or both. When you know what stops you, you can decide to keep doing the work necessary to move your business forward or you can decide to keep dreaming of the next level.
Do strategic plans really work for small business owners?
Yes, absolutely! According to the SBA, one of the top 10 reasons small businesses fail is due to poor planning. No sales plan, no marketing plan, no operations plan, no financial plan, no plan at all is a recipe for business failure.
I don’t know what stage of business you’re in but below are a few examples of what my clients have experienced as a result of my profit mastery planning process:

- Landed the largest client ever ($25k!) after being in business more than 10 years
- Generated 6 figures in revenue for the first time and pays herself a monthly salary
- Generated 7 figures in revenue 8 months after implementing her profit mastery plan
