You’ve tried and tried and tried. Now what? Should you throw in the towel, let it go and move on? Is it finally time to quit? This question has probably crossed your mind a time or two. Or you may be at a crossroads in your life and/or business right now contemplating your next move. No matter what you may be facing, I’ve learned that it takes courage to get started and it takes courage to keep going. You may be thinking that it’s so much easier to quit but before you do, I want to share what I learned from a bird during my recent camping trip.
As I sat enjoying the clear blue sky and the light summer breeze, I noticed a bird flying above. I reached for my iPad to take a photo but before I could it disappeared behind the trees. I tried at least three times to capture the photo before thinking about giving up. Each time I tried the bird seemed to disappear before I could snap the photo. I was about to put my iPad away and move on to my next camping adventure when I realized that I couldn’t get taking this picture out of my head.
There were three things I had to be willing to do to capture this photo.
- Move and change positions so I could get a better view. (Thought to ponder: What you want may be hidden from your view so move and change positions.)
- Act on what I desired. (Thought to ponder: If you’re not willing to take action, you’ll miss every opportunity that comes your way.)
- Keep trying.
What I learned from that bird, was that as long as an idea, a dream, or a goal lives in your heart, don’t give up. Keep trying. As long as that fire is burning in your belly don’t give up. Keep trying because eventually what seemed impossible will become a reality. I want to encourage you to keep working on your dreams, no matter how big or small. If it matters to you find a way to make it happen! Will you face challenges? Yes. Will it be difficult at times? Yes. Will it be worth it in the end? Absolutely.
