It takes money to make money.
Not exactly. If it doesn’t take money to make money then what does it take?
It takes action – consistent, revenue generating action. When building a business, it’s easy to get distracted by the latest and greatest bright, shiny object and avoid the activities that will increase your revenue and generate profit.
Waiting is one of the biggest roadblocks that keep small business owners from generating income. Whether it’s waiting on a website to be completed, business cards to be designed, photos to be edited or graphics to be done.
The truth is you don’t have to wait for any of those things before you make money. Those things are distractions that can keep you from serving your target audience, right now.
When I was starting my business, I remember a colleague asking how many clients I had. I said, “none yet because I’m waiting for my website to finished”. Based on her response, I knew that I had wasted time “waiting” when I could have been serving my ideal clients and generating income. Lesson learned.
It’s important to have a daily revenue plan that identifies the products and/or services that you’re planning to market along with the specific income generating activities. For example, you may decide to sell an online course by hosting a live training. That’s just one revenue generating activity you can implement to make money in your business.
