What Every Small Business Owner Should Have

There’s no shortage of bright, shiny objects coming into the market daily that you “must have” if you want to grow your small business. On top of that, there’s your daily business to do list. Plus, you have a personal life, right?! It can all be a bit daunting if you haven’t clearly defined what success looks like for you and more importantly, what your clients want from you and how you plan to deliver.  It doesn’t matter if your goal is to hit 6 figures, hit 7 figures, replace your income so you can leave your corporate job or simply generate enough income to take your family on a month long vacation every summer. The goal doesn’t matter, what matters is how you use your resources to achieve that goal.

There are 3 things that every small business owner should have when it comes to building a highly profitable, successful business.

Hands down the #1 thing is a strong mental game. Sure, there will be highs and lows, ups and downs, wins and losses, successes and failures… but none of those occurrences will keep a determined business owner down. That doesn’t mean you don’t have feelings, it just means you don’t quit in the face of adversity and challenges. In other words, you don’t allow your feelings or a bad day to keep you from doing the work.

Now, if and when you do have a day of learning also known as a bad day, you should have the next two things in place to ensure that the show goes on – team and systems.

Building a team and implementing systems will remove any barriers that keep you from growing your business and your income. Your team is not limited to those who work in your business, your team is comprised of family, friends and mentors that support and encourage you.

When it comes to systems your team may be responsible for monitoring the systems to make sure they’re functioning as expected so necessary adjustments can be made sooner rather than later. Some of these systems will be technical in nature and some parts of the system may not.

For example creating and reviewing your business’ monthly financial plan and goals will include a combination of systems, team and you. Setting goals – easy, planning – easy, turning those plans into paydays can be easy if you take the planning process a step further. You’ll learn how to go beyond planning to getting paid, when you sign up for a complimentary Make More Profit Session here.
