What are you willing to risk to live your dreams? One of the greatest risk takers of our time was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He put his life on the line every day. He risked it all. I think you’ll agree he had every reason to shrink, play small and live an ordinary life. But his dream – his vision wouldn’t let him. It was much bigger than his life.
When I get scared and think of shrinking and playing small, I think of giants like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Mother Theresa and many others that didn’t quit because it got a little uncomfortable and scary. How uncomfortable are you willing to be in order to see your dreams become a reality? Again I ask, what are you willing to risk to live your dreams?
What if the risk really is the reward? Think about that. When you put skin in the game you gain strength, confidence and courage. Therefore, risk is simply a part of the journey that positions and prepares you for your next level.
I remember passing up opportunities because I didn’t want to fail. I wanted to be certain that the opportunity would be a success. I would spend countless hours analyzing the opportunity because I wanted to eliminate and avoid any potential risk. Let me tell you, that’s not the road to success nor is it the road to living your dreams. Don’t let what you can’t see or don’t understand stop you from living the life of your dreams.
It’s your move. Will you shrink and play small or lean in and change the game?
