Two Simple Words That Can Kill Revenue

“Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.”

Most of us heard (and used) this statement many times growing up and maybe even as adults but the reality is, it’s far from the truth. Words are powerful. And they certainly have the power to accelerate or impede our success as business owners.

Let’s take a look at some common statements that you might be slowing down your success as a business owner.

I can’t charge that…

Well, of course you can. If Tiffany’s can charge $1,500 for a paper clip you can charge what you desire for your products and services. Besides, there’s probably someone else that’s already charging what you want to charge.

I can’t afford it…

Yes you can, if you really want to. Maybe it’s not in your budget today but the beauty of being an entrepreneur is that you decide when you want to make money. You don’t have to wait until payday to get paid.

I can’t do that…

Wrong. You can do anything you decide to do.

If you had told me years ago that I would run five half marathons, let alone one, I wouldn’t have believed you. Actually, if you had told me that I would run a mile nonstop, for fun and enjoy it, I would have laughed. Running a mile or a half marathon didn’t have anything to do with my physical ability. It was what I chose to believe I was capable of doing.

Instead of shutting down all opportunities and options by using “I can’t”, replace it with a more empowering statement like, “How can I”.

How can I charge that?

How can I afford it?

How can I do that?

“I can’t” are two of the most disempowering words any of us can use when building and growing a profitable business. Those words basically send a message to your brain to stop here. But, “how can I” empowers you and opens you up to see solutions and opportunities.

How many times have you used “I can’t” statements in your business?

If you’re a woman entrepreneur and you want to stop giving away your power and learn how to double your revenue and accelerate your profits, then I invite you to join me in Dallas, TX for my Be Profitable Planning + Mastermind Retreat, happening June 11th-14th.
