Whether you’re a new or seasoned business owner, you’ve probably heard that you need to build your list and get potential clients / customers into your funnel because that’s where the money is. The problem with this belief is that business owners lose sight of the list they already have. Don’t get me wrong. You should definitely focus on list-building as a way to generate leads and make money. But don’t forget about this list – the contacts in your phone.
You would probably be pretty upset if you lost the contacts in your phone, right? Excluding the phone numbers of your family and closest friends, think of the value that you hold in your hand each and every day. If you’re not reaching out to the contacts in your phone, you’re definitely leaving money on the table. Not everyone contact in your phone is a client or customer however they may be able to introduce you to someone that is.
Focusing on your phone list puts money in the bank quicker, sooner and faster than someone going through your sales funnel that could take several months before they buy, if they ever decide to buy your products or services. But if you spend some time focusing on connecting and nurturing your phone list then you shorten the sales cycle. In other words, you’ll put money in the bank sooner.
Consider this example: You reach out to 10 people from your phone list and you share what you do. They’re interested and want to hear more. You tell them more and now 5 of the 10 are ready to take action and move forward. The product / service you shared is $10k. If 5 people took action on that product / service, how much revenue would that represent?
You may not have a $10k product / service and that’s okay. The point is that you already have a database of full of leads that you can offer your products / services to.
If you’re serious about building a profitable business, you’ll need to focus on more than just building your online community, focus on nurturing your offline list – your phone contacts. So… who you going to call first?
