Who is Sonya Moore?
First and foremost, Sonya Moore is a daughter, wife, mother and a God-fearing woman! She has been a daddy’s girl since day one and is a wife to Craig Moore of 22 years this year and the mother of two young adults, Craig Moore II and Shanoah. After those loving accomplishments, she is an Administrative Consultant and CEO/Owner of Moore Planning & Consulting LLC, who also likes to read and play with her four-legged CWO (Chief Wellness Officer), Finn Finn.
Tell us about Moore Planning & Consulting
Moore Planning and Consulting (MPC) is an administrative and consulting and support firm that gives administrative relief to overwhelmed business owners and teams by turning chaos into systems and converting ideas into income with strategic planning, virtual business manager and process development services. We integrate processes, systems and service to enhance communication and boost productivity so business owners and team leaders can scale and grow their business – resulting in more clients, more revenue and more time. Bottom line – we get to the root of an administrative problem and help you create a realistic and actionable plan to fix it. We do more than just tell you what to do, we actually help you do it! We are the virtual help you need when you need it.
Why did you start your business?
It simply was time to bet on me. I’ve always wanted to own my own business with several false starts in the past. With being in a stable yet unfulfilling career I just ended up in that was paying me six figures, being the bread winner, caring for a child with a chronic illness and having a barrage of household bills each month, I couldn’t see any financial way I could walk away to start a business with that level of responsibility. There was more than just me to think about in this situation. Until…my executive-level position was eliminated and an attractive severance package was presented to me. That was all she wrote. I ran out of the door with that severance package, started my business and I haven’t looked back.
What do you love most about being an entrepreneur?
I absolutely love owning my own time without anyone dictating how it should be spent; having the flexibility to structure my day based on my projects and peak productivity times that work for me without having to explain myself; and choosing the type of clients and projects I accept that align with me working in my “zone of genius” to keep the “fire burning in my belly” as I use my God-given gifts of administration. Since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved organizing things, putting puzzles together and planning gatherings. Who knew I would parlay those same skills into creating strategic plans, implementing processes and executing ideas to build businesses all over the country and get paid doing it! This is another reason why I love being an entrepreneur.
What has been the most challenging aspect of being an entrepreneur?
Self-doubt and pricing my services appropriately have been challenges for me. I am a work in progress and continue to conquer these challenges by hiring people to assist me in these areas so I remain focused and future ready. I also have a strong support system consisting of my husband, immediate family and trusted business besties to help me along on my journey.
Share some of your success and highlights since starting your business.
Since starting my business, I became a two-time, #1 Amazon best-selling author, Entrepreneurial Elevation (July 2019) and Soulful Messages (November 2019); was featured on the cover of Impact The World Magazine; conducted 20 strategic planning sessions, which is my signature service and one of my most popular services; onboarded 15 clients in six states and increased my revenue month over month with the coaching assistance of Shontaye Hawkins.
What would you tell another woman that is considering starting a business?
Don’t just jump into entrepreneurship. Ease into entrepreneurship. Use where you are to help propel you where you want to be. All of your experience, wisdom and resources will not only help you start your business, but it will keep you in business so you can sustain it and make it profitable.
