What results do you want to create in your business 6 months from now? 12 months from now? What about 3 years from now? Some business owners don’t create goals or plan for the future because they simply don’t know what they want. Do you know what you want? It seems simple enough but statistics show that only about 10% of people can clearly articulate what it is they want. That’s pretty scary!
When asked the question, “what do you want”, most people start by listing all the things they don’t want. And guess what? They’re getting exactly what they don’t want because they’ve conditioned themselves to focus on the things they want. Are you focused on what you don’t want or are you focused on what you do want?
One area that keeps business owners from moving forward is their resistance to let go of the challenges they faced in the past – some of which continue to show up in the present. The past didn’t happen to limit you, it happened to propel you forward and position you for the next level. If you confuse the merry go round of the past with moving forward, you’ll continue to create less than desirable results.
When you’re clear about the results you desire to create, you can then put a strategic plan together to achieve them. The plan won’t create results if you don’t take action. Don’t confuse planning and goal setting with taking action. They are both important to the success of your business but they must be accompanied by action. Get clear about what you want then create a plan to make it a reality. Nothing will change unless you do the work.
