I’m waiting until I have more money…
I’m waiting until the kids are in college…
I’m waiting until I lose weight…
I’m waiting until I finish school…
I’m waiting until is a statement that puts your dreams, goals and life for that matter, on hold indefinitely. This statement defers action until a future event that may or may not occur. On one hand, you’re saying “no, I’m not ready I’m going to wait until…”, while deep down you really want more out of life. Your heart’s desire will have to wait until. Living your purpose will have to wait. Your dream will just have to wait.
It doesn’t matter that you want to start a business, write a book, or change careers it will all have to wait until you’re willing to stop pretending that everything’s all good and start going after what you want. Too often we start pursuing our dreams and stop when we hit a bump in the road, with the belief that we’ll have time to pursue it later. Listen, that’s a story that we make up to avoid risk and taking action. Trust me. I played that game for far too long.
I know you want more but you’re stuck listening to the conversation in your head that has given you every reason why it can’t happen and why you’re not good enough. Enough of that, it’s time to shut off the chatter and focus on giving birth to your dreams. In the soon to be released book, Catch Your Star!, I share nine key elements to birth and live your dreams. One of those elements, patience, is often confused with waiting.
One of the key differences between patience and waiting is that patience is active and waiting is a passive approach to birthing your dreams. If you’re going to see your dreams become a reality a little patience, sometimes a lot of patience will be required. Being patient doesn’t mean you sit on your dreams it means you do something each and every day that moves you closer to living your dreams. What action(s) have you taken today to birth and live your dreams?

Shontaye, I enjoyed reading about not putting your dreams on hold. I am concerned that people will use Covid-19 as an excuse to do just that. Isn’t Covid-19 the perfect time to start planning how to achieve those dreams so that when the virus is behind us we are ready to execute?
