By now you’ve probably spent some time reflecting on the past year and identified what worked, what didn’t work and what you’d like to achieve next year. Before you rush into planning and creating your goals for the next year there’s one thing you must do. This one thing will set the course for a year of success, business growth and profits. That one thing is to decide.
Decide to succeed! Decide to achieve your goals! Decide that it’s your time! Decide to do whatever it takes!
Goals require consistent action to become a reality. But when you decide to succeed you remove the internal double dutch and negotiation that will certainly come up. When you create a goal with an “if then” mindset you send a signal to your brain to achieve this goal only if a certain set of conditions exist. In addition, an “if then” mindset usually results in you giving up before long before you get started.
Below are 5 key questions to help with your goal setting and planning process:
- What is the goal?
- What support do I need to achieve this goal?
- What actions can I take immediately?
- When will I achieve this goal?
- How will I celebrate when I achieve this goal?
When you set your goals, in addition to deciding to achieve them, you also need to create an action plan.
