“I don’t like numbers!”
I’m sure you’ve heard this statement or said it yourself a time or two. I know that we’re all born with a unique set of talents and abilities. I also know that our dislikes are sometimes the result of an unfavorable experience in our lives. Often times, the experience dates back to our childhood. In other words, a past experience could be robbing your present of the success you desire and deserve.
Successful entrepreneurs know that an essential part of their business survival depends on understanding the numbers even if they weren’t born mathematical geniuses. When you say, “I don’t like numbers,” is it possible that you just don’t understand them? The things you like and enjoy are most often things that you do well and feel confident doing. Think about the anxiety you felt the first time you made a sales call, hosted a live event, or launched a new product/service. I believe that when we say we don’t like something, it could really be that we don’t understand it and we resort to saying we don’t like it to avoid failure, embarrassment or rejection.
