Gone are the days where LinkedIn was the social network exclusively for corporate professionals to showcase their skills. It’s quickly becoming the place where businesses – big and small, share content, connect with key decision makers and grow their network.
Actually, LinkedIn has had an article publishing feature for quite some time. But the various ways content can be shared and how connections can be deepened has definitely improved. And that’s good news, if LinkedIn is a part of your overall marketing strategy.
With more than 500 million members, LinkedIn is one of my favorite social media platforms to do business. Personally, I’ve landed major media opportunities, sponsorships, clients and some really cool connections.
In my opinion, with the addition of some the features I’ve highlighted below, LinkedIn is an entrepreneur’s gold mine.
- LinkedIn Live – similar to the live video feature on some of the other social platforms, this feature is slowly being rolled out to users across the platform. You can go here to submit a request to be a part of the beta testing group.
The next features are available when sending messages to your connections.
- Audio/Video Messages – You can send a 60 second or less message to your connection by clicking on the plus sign next to the box where your typed message appears. Try this feature out next time you connect with someone for the first time.
I’ll be honest I really like this feature because the dissertations, I mean inbox messages that I’ve gotten in the past were so impersonal. It’s possible that you have the exact service or product that I need but please don’t sell it to me in the first message you send.
- Calendar Link – No more going back and forth with your connections trying to find a convenient time for you all to meet. You can link your calendar to the “Availability” feature under messages.
Have you tried any of these new features? What do you think about them?
